I'm well and truly fed up today so I thought I'd have a little rant here to (hopefully) make myself feel better...
My BS jumped up to 15.6 last night before bed although I had chicken and potatoes for dinner (which I've had many times before!) and bolused accordingly. Felt pretty lousy all night...I didn't correct with bolus- just took my normal basal of 23 before I went to bed.
Woke up this morning at 4.1! Pretty good eh? I did however feel like I was hungover without the pleasure of having a drink...

Right...Had my morning basal of 10 and 2 units of bolus to cover my porridge. It's a 40 minutes walk to work as well so I sometimes drop a bit by the time I get to work...
Just took a test now before lunch and it's back up at 14.4! Have now taken a correction dose together with my normal lunch dose...
What is going on!!!??? I'm really tired and my head is all over the place..

Do you think I could possibly have had a hypo during the night and this is a rebound?
I HATE not knowing why things happen!:(

Any suggestions most welcome...

Many Thanks,

Isabell

yea, you did have a rebound and your basals sound off, it should not lower you like that.....all night, it should be the level you fell asleep with provided it was four to five hours after your bolus shot....

Sounds maybe like poor absorption. Are you using good sites and rotating?

Sounds like you had a hypo at night..seeing as you woke up feeling like you had a hungover and you are now getting the afters of it all I would wait to see where I am at dinner time then take more action if needed.

Thank you for replying!
It's now 2 hours after lunch and my BS is down to 12 which is still rubbish but it doesn't send me into a panic at least...

My basal is normally spot on- I never normally hypo in the night-that's why I thought it a bit odd.

The rebound theory is most probably what's happened here...it still doesn't explain why my BS shot up to 15.6 after dinner last night though..unless as xMenace says, it's a case of bad absorption- I do rotate but I suppose sometimes you're bound to hit a bad spot...!

I just hate having a BS above 13- It doesn't happen very often- hence the panic mode!

Thank you for all your advice- I shall indeed see where I am at dinnertime!
