Good Morning,

Are undereye circles a side effect of diabetes or certain insulins? Adam has red shiny bags/circles under his eyes and is thinking perhaps they're a side effect of lantus? He has noticed that the top of his lids (right by his eyelashes) seem to be a dark purplish red when his bags are bad. And the bags seem to be worse at night than in the morning.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to do some research but not really coming up with a lot of info.

I'm attaching a couple of pictures for yall to see.

Thanks,
Diana

Diana, I would see if anyone else answers as well. I noticed the same thing happening with me although I'm not young. I've always had sort of allergy "shiners" but since I've been diagnosed back in May my shiners/bags have gotten worse. I don't take Lantus tho'. I'm curious.

Nice pictures!

I have never heard of Lantus causing dark circles or any other eye problems. However, there is a first time for everything. Let us know what answers you find.

Usually these are either a sign of allergies or sleep deprivation.

I have dark circles. My doctor told me to take claritin over the counter. one a day. and I do. and it helps. they arent as bad. you can get the walmart brand for 4.00 for 30 days worth. not too pricey. I have been taking it for 2 months now and I have seen a huge difference. WHile they arent completely gone, I don't look sickly.
