Ok everyone....
I saw him today for my results.....
I must say he was a bit nicer today, he actually talked a bit more. He said some confusing things, though.....
My A1c was 10.. not good, then again I have much better control now and he congratulated me when he saw my log of blood sugars. He said I was one of the few T1 that needed such little insulin to get the results I was getting. I know my control for the past 6 months was real bad... but not now.

I was a bit surprised when i showed him a log of the foods I eat totaling 800 calories max.. he said it was fine!?.....
I had to show cause he didnt ask..... (Oh boy!)lol or even send me to a nutritionist.
My "female" problem, for those of you have read my post on that ,had nothing to do with my blood sugars.....(things that make you go hmmm)
My thyroid, hormones, and Bp was fine. Forgot to ask about my cholesterol.... does anyone know of the code on the lab results for this? lol

All your feedback on my last result before seeing a new Endo is welcome....... LOL

I am glad your endo was a little better today.

I am also happy to hear you bs are under better control. Something to look forward to- your next visit your A1c will be lower! Keep up the good work.

I think I would die if I only ate 800 cal.! It makes me hungry just thinking about it!

See what I mean about him being "looney"....

He won't even give me an idea of what to eat. If I had not showed him my journal, he would have never known.

I think that's pretty typical these days. I mean, there is no such thing as a diabetic diet. So, they leave it up to you to decide what to eat.

When dietician, wife and I worked out diet, the only thng she was worried about was I getting enough carbs to fit my lifestyle. Other than that, she left it open to wife and I to decide what/how much of whatever it was I was going to eat.

I don't know about you, but too often certain foods have to go off and on my list of what I can eat depending on how my body's recating to that food a that point in time.

I'm glad to hear you feel a bit more positive about this visit.

My overall experience has been that other than "low fat, low protein" docs don't have much nutritional advice. I've mentioned a CDE before, and I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I believe you've mentioned that it's just not something you can manage at this time.

Do you know anything about carb-counting and ins:carb ratios? PM me, I'd be happy to point you in a helpful direction (I'd write it here, but I hate 8-mile-long posts). I've found carb counting to be very helpful in managing my b/s as well as giving me more flexibility in my diet.

I'm sure that your A1c will come down - be patient and you'll see.

One thing about this disease, and I've had docs that liked and didn't like, is that you have to be pro-active and your own best advocate. Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if they say something you don't understand. Doctors are human, they are not perfect. Make sure you understand what you're being told, and don't take a vague mumble for an answer (easier said than done, take it from a class-A creampuff).

PM me,
HeatherP

Forgot to ask about my cholesterol.... does anyone know of the code on the lab results for this? lol

On my report;
Cholesterol, Total
Along with;
Triglycerides
HDL Cholesterol
VLDL Cholesterol Cal
LDL Cholesterol Calc

Although Triglycerides are not Cholesterol it is usually checked along with the rest.

Sometimes eating low GI can prove a shortcut to lower bGs......Eve
