Hello Singh and welcome. :) What medicines are you taking? Are you taking insulin and what kind? I find that a small snack before I go to bed helps with fasting numbers. Tell us a little more about yourself.

Info needed. Are you type 1 or type 2. Are you taking shots or on a pump.

Hi, welcome like the others give us more to go on. :)

I also find that if I eat a small amt just before bed my am reading is lower. I think it also depends on what you have for your evening meal and what time it is. Me I try not to eat after 7-7:30 and I make it a lite meal. When I was eating heavy I always bottomed out during the night and then had a high fasting number. (dawn syndrom):(

I assume you are a type 1 or type 2 using insulin, either way you are insulin dependent taking a basal insulin like Lantus or Levemir. In this case high morning bgs can be caused by two things firstly you are taking too much basal the night before/morning before and thus you are receiving a liver dump (releasing glucose into the blood stream to pull you out of a low bg) which is making you high. Alternatively you are not taking enough basal and waking up high. Either way the only thing you can do is to test, before you go to bed, testing at 3am +/- and doing a fasting basal test. Fasting basal test requires you to skip breakfast and test every hour until say lunch time (1:00pm). Stop basal testing if you become high or low and watch for any trends, i.e. if you go lower then you have too much basal and so you should lower the basal dose accordingly in 1 or 2unit increments. Once basal is set right you can move on to your bolus I:C.

Ask more questions and we will do our best to answer. :D

Terms:
Basal = long acting insulin
Bolus = short acting insulin
I:C = insulin to carb ratio (http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_control_tips/carb_factor.php)

You could also just be getting sick (or something just passing)? Are you stressed lately?

I hve got few queries:

First if i have thorughout my day readings come more or less within range.

I got two questions one if you hav 2-3 days when you have your morning reading bit high but then it goes back to normal what does it suggest ?

Yes i am thinking of changing my evening dose just wanna give myself one more day and see for some reason i come bak within range.One bad habit i have is eating dinner arnd 10-10:30 and then sleep arnd 12:00-12:30 so sometimes when i go to sleep my readings are arnd 140-145 mark for pp bcoz i dont wanna go to too low on it as i am worried it might go low in sleep.Any suggestions?

I do one good thing is walk arnd 20-30 mins or excercise every day in evening or after dinner.

Thanks guys in advance
