:)
This is my first time on any type of forum.

Pre-diabetic, not under Dr's care yet.

I am occasionally over 100 FBGL. Maybe a 103; no higher than 110 very infrequently. Most often 85 -95. Started taking Alpha Lipoic Acid and am now getting consistent 100 - 110. It has raised my fasting levels. After meals, during the day, good low normal readings.

Don't understand this. Has anyone had this result?

And why is it you think you are Pre-Diabetic? Who told you this?

I am new at this. Instead of replying to you I posted a new thread. I am self diagnosing so far but have been testing glucose for years and the numbers are getting higher ow that i am older, 65.

Get your bloodwork done and let the doctor diagnose you.

Hi Newby!

I can say that an occasional FBG over 100 does not make one a Pre-Diabetic. A professional diagnosis is the best way to determine your current condition.

However, if your self-diagnosis helps you to better manage your diet, to exercise more, control your weight, et cetera -- go for it! There is nothing in adopting a healthier life-style that will harm you despite your age.

You need to ask for a fasting glucose and a cpeptide to be done also so that they can better see the whole picture prior to deciding on a diagnosis.

Ronin, I know I have to see my Doc and I will but testing helps with my campaign against diabetes. Thanks for the response. You understand what I'm doing.

:( My Dr. said that I am pre-d, gave me a meter, said to loose weight and offered a diatition. Did not say when to check blood glucose.
He sent me a copy of my blood test. They are fasting BG of 112 and aic of 6.4. He wrote a note on the report saying "good".
I am watching my carbs and have lost over 9 lbs. in a month and a half.
I know everyone is different but any advise on self testing or diet much appriciated.

Greg, 68 yo male:)
