Anyone have one? I checked it out after my 11 yo daughter told how " cool" Nick Jonas' POD is and how he doesn't take shots. Anyone have one? Any good things to report? It looks pretty interesting and no wires like a pump.

Several people use the Ominpod on this site. Do a search and you will find lots of threads on it. ;)

I was going to change to the Omnipod, however I found out that they don't contract with insurance companies,so they are an out of network provider. From the way the lady made it sound that is for all insurance companies. I could not justify putting out all that money for my pump stuff, when I get it covered 100% now in network.

They do have a demo pack you can order, it is a pod, you just can't fill it or pump with it. You can wear it so you know if you are going to like it or not. You can get one sent to you free on their website.

I didn't realize it was all out of pocket.. too bad. It seems like a good idea.

I've been talking to a local pod rep and he said that Omnipod works with almost all big insurance companies. I have faxed my papers to get started with the pod and included all my insurance information. I'll let you guys know if they pay their 80%

David - I've been on the Omnipod since April. Like someone else suggested, I would order the demo kit and let your daughter wear the pod around for 3 days to see what she thinks.

I like the system but I will be honest, I'm not going to scream my undying love for it from the rooftop. My insurance covered a good portion of the starter kit and it covers a good portion of my supplies.

My advice is to gather as much information as you can and test out as many choices as you have available in pumps. Then make a decision. If you have any specific questions about Omnipod, I would be happy to answer them - just pm me.

I just reread your initial post and then mine - I think I misunderstood - your daughter is not the one who needs the Omnipod, she thinks it would be cool for you to have it? Sorry if I was confused. And if this is the case, then rather than have your daughter wear the demo pod, you might try it yourself :) Sorry about that...

Yes she would think it was cool.. as Nick Jonas appears to be the coolest person on the planet.. according to 11 year old girls I live with. She thought it would be easier for me and of course.. cool.

I'm wearing my Demopod right now. It came in the mail yesterday and this morning I got an e-mail from the Pod rep telling me that my insurance has approved me and Insulet should be contacting me within the next two days.

I'm really excited :dancing2:

How does it feel? Does it show under your clothes? The one's i've seen on TV look like they would be bulky under clothing.

Well I got a call from Edgepark yesterday, I guess they have started to partner with Insulet Corporation and be the in network provider for anyone who is out of network. So if all goes well I should get the green light to order my Omnipod.

I saw one at my CDE. I like the idea of the pod. If it was smaller I would like it better. Seems a bit bulky to me. And a traditional pump would actually be cheaper over the 4 years for me.

It all depends on high tight or loose you wear your clothes. No one noticed when I had my demo on and today I am wearing one with saline in it. No one has run up to me at work saying "OMG, what is that bump under your shirt" Although, when I start wearing them on my thigh, I can see my wife asking me if I'm happy to see her.

I love mine. Not big enough for poeple to notice unless you show them where it is. I dont know why that would matter anyway. How is a little bump in your clothes worse than a pump on your hip with a line going into your clothes? I dont know why people worry about that so much. It does have its down points though. But I still like it.

What are the down points for you?
