View Full Version : Questions about CGMS.....
Hi. I just started using the PUMP and the monitoring system a week ago. It was very exciting at first and I see the hopes of getting A1C < 7 in 3 months. It was at 8.9 my last check up.
The question I have is about the CGMS. The second and third time I tried to inject into my body, there was excessive bleeding. The needles seem too HUGE for bleeding not to occur. I wanted to ask if anyone had similar issues with the CGMS.
Thanks.

In six months of using CGMS I've had that happen twice. Dunno why, but I bled rather profusely. One sensor worked anyway, after the bleeding died down. The other one didn't. Go figger.

Yes, bleeding is seen often when inserting the sensor - my educator warned me of that when I started on it. When I insert the new sensor, I press down hard on it with some gauze or some clean kitchen towel for a minute or two (can be more) until it has stopped. It is quite normal. Good luck, Keni. :)
