Small meter would be great. I love the Freestyle Lite because of how small it is. The One Touch UltraMini comes in fun colors and is also small.

I have the pink one touch mini and it's great! But for those technologically advanced youth out there, the one touch Ultra Smart is great.

Nothing, All meters are free. (If you know how to get them.) But the strips, well...

Check out the thread http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/chit-chat/12683-diabetes-freebies-you-me.html

Also visit the websites of the various manufacturers and they often give them away and finally talk to your Doctor, certainly in Ireland (I'd guess it happens in US too) Doctors will have meters to give away as they will have gotten them from Sales reps.

If you go to the One Touch website, you can sign up for a free One-Touch Mini. It comes with 10 strips.

Thank you! I'll ask about it when I go to the doctor.

what you need to find out is what STRIPS your insurance will pay for :)

i agree that the One Touch UltraMini (UltraEasy in EU) with it's wide range of colours is the kewlest meter for a kid

but as someone mentioned, the ultra Smart for the techy kids would be kewl, it's a much bigger meter, but i bet the techy kids would love it :)

I have no clue what my insurance pays for.

At the Step Out Walk in KC Freestyle had a table, and I was given a Freestyle Promise card. I called the number and they sent me a free meter. With the card, they pay up to $50 of the copay for the testing strips. You pay the first 15, they pay up to 50 after that, and then you make up the rest.

I now only pay 15 dollars for a vial of 100 test strips. I don't know how else to get one, try contacting the company. I love my new meter. I was using the Ascensia Breeze 2 before and it is huge! I like how much smaller this is and how it has the port light and a backlit display. It's easy to use and very discreet and with the Promise program, it's much cheaper.

How I can get discounted meters/strips? I still haven't gotten one.

And, how do you put the "I am a:____".
