i've been on lantus for about a month now and i take 44u in the morning and 44u at bedtime, i take humalog 3x a day, i was supposed to take 30u in the morning, 16 at lunch and another 30u around 6:30pm, but in the last week, i've been taking only 5u of humalog in the morning and i still end up with a low a few hours later...

does anyone else take 2 insulins (one being lantus) and have had this problem?

It sounds to me like you are taking way to much Lantus. If the dose is too big, the Lantus you take at bedtime will make you go low the next morning. Try skipping breakfast and the humalog, but take your Lantus. If the dosages are correct, your blood sugar shouldn't change much.

I use Lantus, Novorapid and Actrapid (also before meals). I inject 8 units of Lantus before bed and first thing in the morning.

i agree that 88u of lantus a day is a lot, but that's what my doc has given me... i'll try going a little lower with my humalog and my lantus, maybe even to the point of only taking humalog when i eat something with carbs/sugar...
