I went to a chinese restaurant last night and maybe I'm testing my boundaries now or after eating healthy food for 4 months, because I have had diabetes type 1 for 4 months. I did a silly thing! The silly thing was I had a big meal which was 1 spring roll, 1/2 cup green vegetables, 1 cup fried rice, 1 (very fatty might I add) mongololian beef and 1 deep fried icecream with low sugar and high coconut milk with strawberry topping)
I had 4 times the insulin I usually had to cover my meal (11u novrapid for 7u carbohydrates as and my carb to insulin ration is 1 1/2 novorapid to 1 insulin) and ended up having a hypo or 3.4 1 hour later. Then I woke up this morning and my blood glucose was 11.3.
I feel like slapping me.

Testing 2,3,4,6 hours after a meal and then correcting using a correction factor is usually the best way to handle meals like this. Even if it means staying up a bit late to make the corrections. Doing it once in a while is not a problem, just make too much of a habit of it we all have to enjoy ourselves sometime :D. Also I would recommend that you start carb counting and get an Insulin to carb ratio, which will allow you to match the insulin to the food you consume. Either way make a note of how you coped and/or could have coped better for next time. All is not lost; don't be too hard on yourself. It’s not about how far you fall off the bandwagon it’s about how quickly you get back on.

did you inject before the meal or after? because you obviously had too much insulin to cover those sugars and carbs... did you do anything strenuous like exercise or if you injected into a leg or arm, maybe you leaned on it or slept on it, that used to make me go low too... now i only do it in my arm for the day and at night, in my stomach... unless it's my humalog, which always goes in the stomach...

5 1/2 units at 15g per unit is 82g carbs. (mental adding *75g plus 7g equals 82g)
thanks for your encouragement shiftor. I think I was an idiot I suppose it could be worse. But I have learnt a valuable lesson.

sounds like a yummy salad though ;)
i don't think i've ever gone high because of carbs, usually a lack of insulin to cover what i ate... or is that the same thing?
