I was diagnosed with this, which is a temporary condition where the tissue around the nerves swells up when you first start taking insulin. It started when I was diagnosed in May. It was mostly in my feet. My foot became extremely painful and I couldn't put the slightest touch on my feet for 3 months. I couldn't walk for 3 months and my toes became paralysed I couldn't move them. It was really painful.
My neurologist said inflammatory neuropathy. is temporary, but because nerves take longer than muscles to heal, it takes up to 6 months to recover. The neurologist said nerves grow 1mm a day and the muscle neurons would have had to heal before the nerves could have started to heal or something. It is caused by having uncontrolled blood sugars for a long period of time. Did you recover? My inflammatory neuropathy gets much worse on Lantus so I switched to Levemir.
I now only get a feeling of pin pricks and slight burning pain in my feet now, so it has improved a lot.
