This forum says young adults, but I'm wondering how young is considered young? I am 23 and prediabetic. It would be nice to chat with people my own age instead of a bunch of 50 year olds, but I don't know if I'm outside the age range of this forum. (Don't get me wrong, I love the advice I've gotten on other forums, but it's nice to have somebody who's my age to talk to).

I'd say that young adult is from late teens to mid twenties. What do I know though, I am part of that "bunch of 50 year-olds" you referred to - hehe :D

I have gotten the feeling from the forum that there is a great mix of people at all ages on here at any given time.

I am 37 and my mother still says I am a young man, does this count? ;)

You reach an age when you realize you have more in common with children than adults. I think I am almost there. :D Can't remember 32, but remember all of 13. :o

I honestly didn't mean to offend anybody. It's just that I feel that there are unique challenges to every stage of life when dealing with something like this, and it's nice to know that there are people who are going through it at the same time. I know that my challenges as a graduate student who is living by herself are probably very different from the person who has three teenage children to feed, a house to maintain, etc. I love all the advice I've gotten, but it seems that the majority of information on prediabetes and type 2 is geared toward somebody who is at a very different stage in life than I am. I guess I was hoping that I had found a place where there were people who were my age and understood.

You found the right place Jessi. We have a lot of young people in school and definitely in the same stage of life as yourself. Penny is right, we were having fun. I hope none of us upset you. You will find that we are a family and we tease like a family.

We are all in this together. No matter what age, we have the same concerns and diabetes definitely plays a huge roll in our lives.

Take a look around. You will see that we have a LOT of people your age that are struggling through the same things you are at this time in your life.

I don't think you insulted anyone, as Nancy said they were just having a fit of fun, but not at your expense either. There are lots of young people, Kat already responded, keep an eye for 2high she's a youngster too. I suppose us older people (i'm 42) like to show that we are young at heart and in spirit.

As Nancy said, there are young adults around. You could post your questions in the young adults section (as you did with this post) and mention that you would like to hear from young people.

One thing I find (and like about the forums) is that it's very much an all inclusive place. I'm T2 and will post questions in the T2 forum but love to get replies from anyone (t1/t2). When reading posts, I'll admit that I look at the content of the post rather than where it was posted to see if I can contribute.

Stick around, you can offer a fresh and young perspective on things.

Thanks guys! Being new here I'm still trying to get the feel for the message boards. I've been to some places where everything you say gets twisted around and offends people, and others where people are pretty easygoing. I wasn't quite sure what the personalities were like on here.

You did not offend me, or any of the others, in the slightest - I was just goofing around and having fun. Of course you want to find people who are your age and understand things from your perspective. Please don't feel that you have to explain yourself - just tease us right back! :)

Under 30's is young adult according to any 'youth retreat' religous stuff I did when I was religous (amn't now long story :( )

So I say officially under 30 BUT that you are as young as you feel !!

I'm 22 I see myself as young, but also as an adult.

We're all mad, mad I tell you, mad, just plain nuts, crackers, you get the idea

get it right dave, I'm not mad, its clinical insanity!!

Coppernob I know the types of forums you speak of but here is totally relaxed.. think the ads for malibu or something...:canabis:/:smokin:

Hey there Jessi -
Two things ...
The first thing is that I love your forum name and wondered how you came up with it.
The second thing is I wondered if you felt that you had found a good number of similarly aged people with whom to compare notes, experiences and questions. I hope so.
Belatedly, welcome to this wonderful forum - it has been a blessing to me. I have learned such a lot just by reading the different threads. :)

Lol, maybe, considering what you want or are asking. I'm inexperienced--probably shouldn't even be on here.
