My endo about 5 years ago told me that a good waking level was about 140 - 150... what do you guys think?
That's a good number to go to sleep at. Not a good number to wake at. I like to wake as close to 100 as possible. Lower is better but not lower than 70 if I can help it.
My overnight basals are f*&^% right now, and I'm waking at 150 if I'm lucky... and it is driving me crazy and making me more tired than usual. Not something I would shoot for. It isn't horrible, but I wouldn't make that my goal.
Usually BG drops overnight. So if you wake up at 150 you either spent all night high, and then droped to 150, OR you are bottoming out in the night and then rebounding OR you've got dawn phenomenon going on and you're rising from about 3am onward.
If the last one is the case and you're not bottoming out, and you spend most of the night in range 150 at waking isn't terrible, but I'd still work on it.
But the only way to know what is happening is to do the alarm clock symphony for a week or two. wake up at odd hours and test.

I like it. Sounds good.
I'm gonna start shooting for 150 before bed and see what I wake at.
I've noticed I feel better when I wake around 100. :)

I finally have my fasting down to what I think is an acceptable level...under 115. This is what my doctor is happy with too. It takes a lot of hard work to do that and I am unhappy when I am 120, as I was this morning. I have found I need to test close to the same time every morning, as the longer I fast, the higher my numbers are. I will even set an alarm to get up if I get to sleep later than normal, so I can take my medication and my first novolog injection of the day. It is what works for me, you may need to try different methods to get your fasting levels down, but I think 140/150 is too high.
150 BEFORE bed, for sure, and between 70-120 when I wake up--but hopefully not under 60 anyway...
