As many of you know, I'm heading to the endo in about 5 days. I'm going to ask him about going on the pump.

I do NOT have insurance. Whatsoever, nor does my wife. What are the prices I may be looking at, and can I rent / lease one out? And where do I get one?

Or, is there anyone out there in forum land who may have a spare pump sitting around that they would like to put to a good cause? Willing to pay for it! :)

Please, please, please let me know!

Pumps are around $5000-6000 and many depends on how you pay for it. If you pay for it all up front in cash they will many times give you the insurance rate if you talk them down. They do have monthly payment plans that are interest free, however, they just charge you a higher starting price for the pump.

Monthly supplies will run you $300-400 a month.

No companies rent/lease pumps and if you get behind on payments, they just won't let you order more supplies.

As for trading pumps on here, I won't say anymore than its illegal in many ways.

Some pump companies will negotiate price and payments with you. Call Medtronic and Animas and talk to them about what you would like to do. I know of two people who have made payments to pump companies to get their pump.

Supplies are expensive. Mine run me about $850.00 every three months (insurance price), but there are ways to conserve on your supplies.

I think your best bet is to contact the pump companies first and see if they are willing to negotiate a price and let you make payments.

Good luck!
