I've been reading a lot about people who say cinnamon lowers their blood sugar. How much should be taken?

The study I read on it said you only needed a 1/4 of a teaspoon a day to reduce blood sugars ....oh and it did work for me :)

I heard a doc on the radio on this last weekend and he was recommending 1/2 tsp. twice daily for type 2 diabetics.

Hope this helps.

"If you eat the whole bottle, I think you're covered........"

Have you seen this.....
Quoted from www.herbalvillage.com ....

"...To use cinnamon to help lower blood sugar and broadly improve NIDDM and IDDM, put 3 rounded tablespoons ground cinnamon and 1 to 2 tsp baking soda (use lesser amount if sodium is a problem for you) in a 32oz(0.85lt) jar. Fill with boiling water and let steep at room temp until cool. Strain or decant liquid and discard 'grounds', put the lid on, and refrigerate. Drink 1 cup (8oz/250ml) of the 'tea' 4 times daily. After 1-3 weeks drop to 1 or two cups p/day, or use as needed. For those with IDDM, start with only 1-2 cups a day, and increase by 1 cup per week, monitoring bGs closely. Buying cinnamon in bulk is cost-effective and recommended..."

Certainly just taking it by tsp never lowered my bGs...I might try this method, but it sounds pretty yuk...

Does anyone know where you can get it in the UK?

"...To use cinnamon to help lower blood sugar and broadly improve NIDDM and IDDM," Demostrates why these terms are no longer used and also why these people have problems with credibility. Yes, various studies have shown beneficial results with cinnamon in decreasing insulin resistance, but has anyone seen good results for those that are Type 1 without resistance? Some, not very informed, type 1's will try to replace insulin with cinnamon after reading these kind of statements even though it says improve and not replace.
