Would hot tea with a little bit of honey be better than hot tea with a little bit of white sugar?
I just cannot see using artificial sweeteners -- all of them (other than stevia) pose some kind of problem or another.
I've got a hankering for a spot of tea lately...
I personally used to love tea and honey. But now I use stevia. enjoy your tea!

Honey and sugar are basically the same carb-wise. I spread my artificials around. Pink in hot stuff, blue or yellow in cold stuff.
HEY!!!! There's the colors of the diabetes flag: Pink, Blue, and Yellow. Looky:

I drink my hot tea with either Splenda or Sweet N Low. Honey or even a small amount of sugar had a negative effect on my blood sugar.

I drink my tea the English way. Milk, no sugar. Herb tea I drink plain.

Black with no sweetener is the way I have always drunk mine even before dx. Try drinking herbal teas they are so nice and need no sweetening.
I was told to avoid anything with honey in it as it is as bad as sugar.

The best tea on the planet is Roobis tea (something a couple of members and I enjoy). It can also be called African Red Bush tea in the states.

What kind of herbal teas would you recommend? I have never seen African Red Bush sold around these parts.
I have to admit -- I like sweet drinks, and I have been drinking way too much water since my diagnosis. I think, if I don't find something sweet I can drink, I think I'm going to go nuts...

Try a squeeze of lemon or a slice of lemon in black tea that is quite nice or a herbal lemon and honey tea. I really like peppermint tea myself.

I use splenda with tea. I think honey has a bit less carbs than plain white sugar. In that sense honey is better. But I guess how much should be a bigger question.
Honey has a lot of good medicinal properties, so I personally would choose honey over sugar.

For me and my glucose level, it's tea w/ Splenda.

I'm the opposite of you.
Blue/Equal in Hot Tea.
Pink/Sweet n Low in Cold Tea.
The blue melts better in how and the pink dissolves better in cold. MY OPINON!!

The hot liquids with sugar or honey go right to a bad sugar rush for me. i like the yogi teas...licorice (sounds horrible) but it's lovely..and just the right amount of zing. Ginger teas are the same and they're supposed to have that blood sugar lowering property of some of the other spices (cinnamon).

I drink my tea plain and I have to admit Roobis is one of my fav's too.
Here at the main grocery store I shop in (Superstore) the house brand is the best, it comes with a lion on the box, easy to pick out in all the herbal teas out there.
As far as added sugar goes, I just can't do it, I have tried but feel wonky as soon as I get the first rush.

Blue(Equal) also breaks down in hot tea or coffee or when used in cooking or baking....it breaks down into wood(methyl) alcohol.
I only use Splenda.....tried Stevia but didn't like the taste.

I recently discovered an herbal tea with rosehips in it. The rosehips added such a tangy sweet taste to the tea I didn't have to sweeten it.
