I have had ringing in my ears for a long time. But it has recently become a lot more intense. I can't be sure when it started and what could be causing it. But a number of things have changed recently. During the last three months, I have switched from NPH to Lantus, and from Humalog to Novorapid. I have also been reducing carbs and increasing protein/fat in my diet.
Anyone suspect a link between ringing in the ears and some aspect of diabetes?
Cheers,
Mark

Is a Big Diabetes Fair, in the Heartland this week-end.
I'm gonna check with CDE and other reps that are there to find out more about this.

Thanks, Harold, for those links. The "hearing problems" thread is particularly pertinent. I can relate to much of the content and, yes, it sounds just like Cicadas at Xmas time ! (down here in the southern hemisphere).
It must be more tyhan just Tinnitus. I didn't got to many rock concerts and noisy parties, I never worked with noisy machinery and I have never used headphones.
The noise has become quite deafening. I suppose I could get used to it. But, at the moment, I just wish it would stop! rzrbks, let us know if you find out anything about this issue at the Diabetes Fair.
Cheers,
Mark

I have heard and read several times that diabetes can be a cause of tinnitus. I have yet to see much about the pathophysiology that links the two. Seems like I remember reading some theories that indicated factors such as hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia, and neuropathy as possible causes.
If anyone runs across any information let us know.
