hey guys, im new to the site just to let you know. I have been working out a lot lately and also increasing my carb/calorie intake by a lot. I have been taking the right amounts of insulin, but have been having high BG. i read somewhere that this will happen, does a:D nyone know how to stop this?

Three possibilities come to mind
1. I:Cs increase with carb intake.
Anecdotal only. I can't prove this. I've just read it a few times. I don't find it true for me.
2. Your basal rates are too high
I don't know what your regimen is, but most diabetics have at least some imbalance between their bolus and basal rates. It may not show day-to-day because we tend to find an equilibrium at our standard carb intakes. However when we change our eating patterns, these differences become apparent.
If you increase carbs and your bgs rise, it should be obvious your I:C is too low and needs to be increased. This will put you at risk at lower carb levels though, so your basal needs to be dropped.
The best way to find your basal rates is to basal test, but there probably is some math you could emply to find correct rates with minimal testing. My brain isn't functioning well right now, but maybe someone else could chime in.
2. A liver dump
Liver dumps are common with intense anaerobic exercise. If rises happen only after lifting, test every half hour and try to id how far in it happens and adjust accordingly. If it's always the one hour mark, test after an hour every time.
There's very little you can do about these. Being well hydrated may help some.

I have been lifting for 30 years and what you are experiencing is quite common.I myself have found that not eating before a workout helps to control the rise as well as a combo bolus. You will have to do trial and error. The one thing that I can tell you is that the carbs are killers.

I was just like this when I used to lift. I just wouldn't eat RIGHT before lifting. But for sure eat something high in protein after working out.
