View Full Version : Metformin .. diminishing weight loss assistance?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I'm finding at the moment....

When I started on Metformin 11 months ago (geez is it really that long) I found that I rarely felt hungry and really only ate because it was meal time. This was really a great help with weight loss.

However in the past 3-4 weeks I have noticed that I'm feeling hungry, not all the time like before DX, but I do get hungry more often. I'm wondering if my body has now fully adjusted/overcome this effect of Metformin.

My numbers are still fine so I'm not having a problem with my dose of metformin for BG control.

It's autumn! We're all hardwired to pack on some pounds before winter, because food is going to be scarce when the snow flies, doncha know! :) I've been like that for the week or so myself. FOOD! FOOD!

Not really, weight has been fairly static for last 6-8 weeks and no real change in exercise (I do need to step that up).

Dave, You may need to change your exercise routine. Maybe you body has become accustomed to the routine. Where I work we have free access to a gym and I try to something different on different day. By the way your A1C is great.

I've been on Metformin for 3 years now. I've found for weight loss I've got to "step it up a notch"... I guess the body just got used to the Metformin and Byetta.

It is not prone to cause weight gain, like Actos for instance.

It is not prone to cause weight loss, like byetta is (though not true for everyone).

A few people have a slight tendancy to loose weight with metformin, but not much. I have not seen any in 15 years of use.
