I would love to have a baby

I'd offer, but I think your spouse and my spouse might get a little angry.

Just check with your GP and you should be OK.

I've had several of my students here at the Correctional Facility where I teach have no problems having kids and I'd bet their A1Cs weren't near that good.

Good luck.

My docs always want me below 6.5 when I'm pregnant. My last A1c was 6.9, due to an infection I had going on at the time...otherwise I'm usually in the high 5s.

I'm about 7 weeks pregnant now, with my 6th child. Pregnancy is fun for me. :) I hope your doc gives you the go-ahead!

Thanks, i hope so to, i will be over the moon if they say "yes go ahead" fingers crossed. I have a chest infection that has my BS high at times but i'm trying my best to keep them right, I hope this doesn't mess up my A1c result!!! Oh congrats on your pregnancy best of luck!!!

Congratulations! 6! wow!!!

You are just the person i need to "speak" to...how do i prepare for getting pregnant?! how do you keep your A1c SO low?

Mine is far from perfect—7.8%. i want to get it down so my husband and i can try conceiving. I haven't been meticulous with my eating so i know i can make headway there, but are there other things i should be thinking about? vitamins to take? other tips you may have? i would be most appreciative of any advice!

Hi, I take folic acid every day, I try and go for a walk everyday if I can!! I watch what I eat, eat small meals but often instead of 3 meals aday maybe 5 or 6, I check BS before meal, 1 hour after and 2 hr after meal. I write everything down, what BS is, food intake, Insulin taken and what my BS is at 1hr and 2hr after meal!!
I have A1c test soon and i'm hoping that its good please god!! Ask away ill try and help!!

The key for me keeping my A1c low is my pump and lots of testing. I test before each meal and snack, then two hours after. If I'm not in my target range after two hours, I make sure to correct. It took awhile for me to get my basals right, I'm on a pump so that definitely helps me. When I was on Lantus and Humalog for my last pregnancy, I did pretty well but it took a lot of testing to make sure my Lantus was set right, I ended up splitting my dose to morning and night to cover the full day.

Exercise was something I couldn't do while pregnant, we'll see this time around. I had an accident while pregnant with my 3rd child. Someone accidentally pushed me down the stairs during intermission at Phantom...I landed in the splits and broke my pubic symphasis (TMI, I know). Anyhow, usually around the 4th month I become unable to walk more than about 20 feet without major pain... I learned to crawl really well, and how *really* filthy my carpets are. :lmao: This tax time I told my dh that we're not buying anything else *except* new carpeting with our return! Back to exercise, until last June there was no where for me to swim in my area, now my 24 Hr. Fitness has upgraded to a new building and is now one of the higher-end clubs, so I get to swim there now. Swimming and water aerobics are great for pregnancy, as is yoga if you're willing to contort yourself into some of those positions.

I take a Women's One a Day multivitamin. I can't take prenatal vitamins since I'm allergic to iodine. However, every woman should take vitamins, especially with folic acid, while TTC. That would be my suggestion. I know that Rite Aid sells their own brand of prenatals that are around $10 for 1000 pills. Pretty darn good price, IMHO.

The only "tip" I have with regard to TTC is that if you think you might have any problems, read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It tells you all about what happens during your cycle, how to take your basal temp and chart it, what the chart means, etc. It's also the way to do family planning without birth control...for those of us Catholics in the room. :)

The other thing I recommend is to *NOT* take an Early Pregnancy Test. The problem with using those is that it may show that you conceived but by the time your "time" comes around, you may have miscarried...so you really will save yourself stress if you just wait until you miss "that day", before taking a home pregnancy test. A lot of early miscarriages happen and most women don't even know it, just thinking it's their cycle. I don't like that stress so I even wait until a week or two after I miss that day...lol

If you have other questions of me, please let me know. :)

Oh, and if you don't know me well already, you will come to know me as a pushy extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth-diapering advocate. :) In case you wanna call me a quack outright, so I know where I stand. :T
