Do I need glasses?

I keep blinking my eyes, and they feel really heavy all the time, even if I'm not tired, and my friends are telling me that I should get them checked but I don't want glasses, but I'm too afraid to stick tiny plates in my eyes.
Do I need them?

When was your last eye exam? If you're not seeing an ophthalmologist annually, you should, just to make sure there are no changes related to your diabetes. You'd also find out "real quick" if you need glasses.

Most health insurance plans will cover an ophthalmology exam with a diagnosis of diabetes.

Wow thanks for your super-quick reply! I'll go see an ophthalmologist next week, and I'll find out then.
I also got a hospital or clinic apointment next week.

Linda is right (well Duh! ;) ) that you should have an annual fully-dilated eye exam by a specialist as part of your Diabetes work-up and maintenance. But since you were only diagnosed in September, you probably need to wait for a few months until your BS is under good control before getting a prescription for eye-glasses (if it is even necessary). Abnormal BS levels can change your vision.
