dextro's glucose tabs????

I brought some dextro's tablets today for hypo's... but do they do the job? I thought they were the same as glucose ones but they say they only have 2.9g carbs in each one where as glucose ones have more... im just confused. Had a glass of wine and its dropped my blood sugar... good job i have some glucose tabs left, because i had one dextro's tab and it did nothing

Dextrose and glucose are both sugars, but not necessarily the same thing. I believe they are both simple sugars.

I use the generic glucose tabs, but my preference is juice.

I just brought a new type of glucose tablets called Glucosol. They contain 4.5gms of carbs. per tablet.The pkg says to take 2 tablets btwn meals as necessary. They contain both glucose & dextrose which as HeatherP said are simple sugars.

What works best for me in treating insulin reactions is the Instant Glucose by the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. Sadly, they don't make it any more so I'm being real stingy with the few tubes I have left. Now when I have an insulin reaction, I lick the tube, but that doesn't work nearly as well as using the glucose that's inside it for some odd reason.

I use the dextrose tablets and they help me a lot, always have a packet in my pocket or bag if i'm out an have an unexpected hypo.

Dextrose and glucose are essentially the same thing. It is one of those thigns where all glucose is dextrose, but not all dextrose is glucose, or something like that. All glucose tabs are dextrose. I imagine the difference in the number of grams of carb is in the size. At 3 grams per tab, about 5 should be used to treat a low. The ones I use have 4 grams per tab, so I use for to treat a low.
