Yesterday I had a 3 month check up and my A1c is 6.9

I was a little disappointed that it went up but my nurse said it's excellent considering the past 3 months I have been away at college for my first semester and pretty much every aspect of my life changed.
So I guess that's good right?

That's a good one, yes. Plus, now you have a goal to shoot for next time if you want to. The most important things are

1) Do you feel ok?
2) Do you feel you have good control?

6.9 isn't life threatening, especially if you answered yes to the above two questions.

Hey, everyone has different standards. By my standards that's a good A1c, especially since you have not been dealing with this disease for that long! And .2 is hardly a "slip" worth worrying about at all. Of course it's always onward, ever onward, set your sights higher and reach for it. Like me you could perhaps be aiming for low 6s the next few A1cs.

You've invited a whole lot of opinions :). The most important question is what you think and feel about it. If you are happy with yourself for maintaining a certain level of control then BE happy.

What you say in your blog about being a math person and realising you need to stop expecting perfect diabetes numbers in the same way as math, you are bang on, in my opinion. Congratulations on gaining this awareness, it's something that often has to click inside someone before they can relax about the whole thing.

i'd kill to have a 6.9

my last one was 13.9, but ofcourse i had some serious health issues to cause that... frankly, i would love to be under 10 right now, but i'm not gonna expect that because i've had the cortizone shot done in october and i had my blood tests done a few weeks ago... i'll find out on december 9th what my level was... i know it'll be weird because i tested before i left for the blood tests and i was at a fasting 4.3 (77) but knowing how these things always turn out, it'll say i was over 7 (126)... it's done that before...

oh well... maybe it won't be so bad...

but hey! congrats a good level! :D
