I have a question! Somewhere else, I read about getting this book about carb counting, but I wanted to know if there was anything else I could get or anywhere else I can go for information. As I was typing this, I already pin pointed my problem. I didn't take any insulin with the food I ate thinking that my bs would rise to an ok level. But as I was typing I don't know why I thought this when I clearly needed a shot. My bs was in the low 40s, but the nachos I ate probably had anywhere from 50-70g of carbs in it. Duh! :stupid: In any case, so that I can have an accurate carb count when I go out to movie theaters, does anyone know where I can get nutrition facts on the nachos and various sized popcorn bags?

I don't know that you'll get exact carb readings for generic movie junk foods, but rough ones will probably serve almost as well if you are smart about it.
So as well as those carb counting books (which usually do have some kind of guides for junk food/snack foods) the other place to try is on the web. Here's a couple of sites:
CalorieKing.com.au - Australian Online Diet and weight loss club. Lose weight for good! (http://www.calorieking.com.au) (It's aussie but may still be useful)
Calorie Counter (CalorieLab) (http://calorielab.com/index.html)
Your diet is your own choice, but if you do this regularly, thinking about limiting your portions (popcorn for the fat/salt, nachos for the salt/fat/carbs hit) would really help. Getting a smaller serve or sharing half with a friend would be a good way to minimise the impact on your health and specifically BG. Also remember you are sitting on your backside watching a movie so it may well be that excessive carbs spike you more than if you not at the movies and moving around/burning energy.

For what its worth I think I have memorized just about every nurtritional label ever placed on a product. With this info I tend to make guest-a-mits on like products, works well.
I would imagine your cerebral inventory for labels is quite large as well, us it to your advantage!

CalorieKing - Diet and weight loss. Calorie Counter and more (http://www.calorieking.com/)
Takes you to the US version. Not sure if there's much difference but I find it useful.
Nachos or any other corn chip seems to push me higher than other foods with the same carb numbers.
Sometimes experience overrides the numbers <groan!>

The Calorie King book is excellent for carb counts on ready-made foods, eating out, etc. It's a small paperback and well worth getting. We have a few other books, but Calorie King is the most user-friendly!

Get a copy at target, sometimes walmart. You can get one online too. I keep mine in my bag religiously... if I leave home without it, I turn around. :)
