Hey all,
Ive done the diabetes thing going on 24 years and am trying to figure a way out to clear out the readings on my OneTouch Ultra2 glucose monitor other than having my dr. do it for me.
Surely someone has done this before.
Thanks in advance.:o

I believe that you can clear the memory of One Touch meters by using Lifescan's software. You'll need a cable for your meter and the software, which should be available for download on Lifescan's site. I think the cable is about $25.

No idea myself. I was wondering though... what do you mean by cheating?

Remove the batteries and let it sit for several hours?
I know that clears the test strip number.

I got flamed the last time I said anything about this but what poodlebone (Liz) told you is true. Removing the batteries does not remove the data. You must have the software and cable. I don't use my software to "cheat". I just use it to download my results for my endo and then I clear my meter.
I tried the battery thing, it did not work. I bought the software and cable, it's simple to do with that.
I really like the software except that there isn't a slot for random BG readings nor morning BG readings. It's before and after meals and nighttime.
Other than that, I like the way it organizes data and presents them in graph form.

Even if you erase the info won't your A1Cs' show high readings?
Just curious as to why you want to erase them ?

Hi Cass.
What I do is download my readings and then clear my meter. I know that older readings are replaced by newer ones once you reach the threshold. It's just something I do, don't know why exactly that I do it.
And yes, your A1C shows everything so those who think they are "fooling" their doctor ain't doing it.

The A1c shows an average over a period of months, right? So can it really show everything?
Why would someone want to "fool" their doctor? What sense does that make?

Yes, the A1C is an average but if you are only showing your doctor "good" readings but the A1C shows an 8,9, or higher, then the doctor knows you are not being truthful.
I don't know why anyone would try to "fool" their doctor. My endo sees ALL of my readings.

If you delete readings just for your doctor then you are only cheating yourself. What’s the point? Rather than delete readings why not take control and work on regaining control of your bg. Tame the D beast, don't let it tame you. ;)

The whole point of having good control is so that you can safely cheat ;) I have a great relationship with my endo. Last new years we got sloshed together and I had a large icing coated brownie right in front of him. I simply hold up my 6ish A1C card and he can't say a thing :D

Let me ask a question so I can clarify something in my mind. None of you are saying that I'm trying to fool my endo, correct? Cuz if you are, I'm definitely not. With the A1C's I've posted and all my questions of different tests and such should show that I do show my endo all of my readings.
No intent to upset anyone, I'm just asking. With all of the uproar going on, I wanted to make sure.:)

I am not accusing anyone of anything. Just saying I don't agree with the "concept". Soon I will need a disclaimer just encase. :D

When I was diagnosed I tested my BGs for only a few months before giving up. I didn't have insurance and strips were expensive. I saw the endo only once after being discharged.
At the time my readings were all over the place. I decided that I just wouldn't write down the really bad ones in my log book. I went for my first appointment with the endo and she told me that they were going to order a blood test that would let them know how my BGs were over the past 3 months. I was really upset about that, because now all of those readings I left out of my log book would be found out.
I seriously thought she was going to get some long list of every BG test I did. I really had no clue what anything meant at the time...!

I was asking ledpipe why the concern over "erasing and cheating" when I made my comment about the A1C so I hope you weren't thinking I was making comment about you at all. :)
If anyone is willing to sit with their endo and get smashed and eat brownies? Kudos to you!:D
I too take my readings with me but I take from two to four weeks at a time, so I guess I am doing pretty much the same thing as that by showing the most recent.
With my software and meter (Accuchek Compac Plus) I have the ability to highlight highs and lows, which I choose to do so he can see exactly where my slipups have been, what they were and what I did about them (come whine on here!!) lol
I hope I haven't offended you in any way, I always read and respect all your comments and look up to you as a great source of information,

No Cass, you have not offended me in the least. Just making sure. :)
With my meter and software, I have set it up with a certain range that my endo and I have decided upon. That way, my highs and lows are highlighted with colored boxes. Makes it easier for both of us to see trends and such.
