This is a fun one to deal with when you're a diabetic. Yuck.
It started late last night and in about 1.5 hours, I emptied all of my digestive tract from both ends. Managed to fall asleep. Blood sugar had climbed to 225 mg/dl by this morning. I haven't eaten any carbs all day and it's taken 16 units of extra Novolog to get my blood sugars down in the 120 to 160 mg/dL range.
I might be getting lucky a bit. I had some more stomach upset around 11 this morning, but only a little. I've been able to drink weak tea to get fluid back into me.

Hope you're feeling better soon! Those GI bugs can do a number on you. Fortunately, they tend to "run their course" soon.

Good luck Scratch!!
I had that mess too almost a week ago. Started abruptly and very acutely at 2am (bg of 488). After a lot of severe vomiting (and the other), I couldn't even keep a drop of water down, and ended up getting to the ER for IV fluids.
Scratch -- do all you can to keep hydrated! And get to the hospital if you can't hold water.

Yeah, it's amazing how quickly they can take you from feeling okay to feeling absolutely miserable. Definitely feels like I'm doing better since waking up this afternoon. The first couple times I got up in the morning, I would drink some tea and then want to fall right back asleep. Now I've been up for a bit and I don't feel the sleepiness coming on.

scratch...i have it too (and i had a smaller case a few weeks back)..not sure if it was the ribs i ate for dinner last night ...but now they may have to be placed on the offensive list for me (whenever i get sick, i can't seem to bring myself to eat the last normal food i had before getting sick)...we call this virus the "oops I cr#pped my pants virus." those of us in healthcare seem to get it quite a bit no matter how often we sanitize our hands etc...

Yeah, that's got to be a problem. The immunity that develops after having a variety of norovirus isn't long lasting and you're going to be coming into contact with people who have it.
I don't think I'm going to be having Italian sausage again any time soon either.

And I won't be having leftover roast either -- that was my last meal B4.
I heard Dr. Alvarez on TV say there is a terrible outbreak of this in the UK now. I would have never believed how sick this could make someone until I experienced it. Tea was my first hope, but nothing worked at all.

Scratch,
You have my sympathy, it really is a horrible dose. Hopefully it will run it's course quickly. Do try get fluids into yourself, perhaps in a drink to replace Eletrolytes.

I've heard there's been a bad outbreak of norovirus over on the British Isles.
Everything's coming back to normal for me. I was able to eat some soup last night for dinner and all the tea I drank in the afternoon and evening helped to rehydrate me.
I took 33 units of Novolog yesterday. I usually inject 1 unit of Novolog to cover 10g of carbs or drop my blood sugar about 35 mg/dL. The only carbs I had yesterday were about 25g with dinner. I managed to average about 150 mg/dL on my 8 blood sugar checks yesterday and I'm pretty happy on that. Blood sugars ran high but not dangerously high and I had margin to avoid the fear of trying to treat hypos with a stomach that wasn't trustworthy.
I'm still having to inject some extra Novolog right now to stay level, but less than yesterday so far.

Hope you're feeling better Scratch!
I thought I had a case of food poisoning Saturday night until my daughter came down with the same thing on Sunday. My blood sugars started off low and then climbed to the 200's.

Try having diabetes and Crohn's Disease at the same time (that's like chronic never-ending gastroenteritis), like me...:(
