I did this about 6 months ago (thankfully with the lantus). If it had been novalog, i would have died. After i injected (in my leg), i could taste the insulin in my mouth and injection site bled. It was the weirdest feeling. i got up to get some ice scream and laid down and then woke up and the ice scream was melted and i was twitching and hardly conscious. i was able to somehow keep drinking juice, etc. But it went on for a couple hours. I was so out of it the whole time. It is scary becasuse i live alone. Was just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

I frequently taste insulin in my mouth after injection...does injecting in a vein cause that??

this is why i dont inject in my leg. but even though i inject in my stomach, the site does bleed from time to time.

I actually cant tell you how many times ive had an injection site bleed. As far as tasting insulin, I usually have the cap from the needle in my mouth so thats all I ever taste. :)

I think all of my injection sites have bled at one time or another. As, for the taste, I get that occasionally too...it tasted pretty awful. :T But I thought our veins were lower than how far the needle can go in?

I get bleeding every second day or so on both legs & stomach - but I'm sure this is simply because I've nicked a capillary on the way in, causing the bleeding (and the subsequent bruising . . .), but the insulin is still going into subcutaneous tissue and not being absorbed directly into the bloodstream. In fact it must be - I use the stomach area for apidra, & that's where I bleed most often, & I've never had an episode like the one described above
