The Faustman lab has announced one result of the first clinical trial. They found that when the BCG is used, it only destroys the defective T cells, the ones that destroy beta cells.

This is really good news, I hope it is successful in further phases of the trials. As for an explanation there is a thread on this forum explaining it all. I will take a look for it later bit low atm. :D

That is enouraging news. It will be a while before we see anything definite about this, though. Phase 1 trials are only due for completion in Jan 2010. Then there are still Phase2 and Phase 3 trials ....
