Day's like today is what makes me really dislike diabetes.

I have been waking up higher for the past few days, so I increased my Lantus by a unit last night.

What a surprise when I woke up at 240!!! That was insane. I can't imagine what it would have been if I hadn't increased my Lantus.

I ate breakfast and corrected like would normally do.

At lunch... 3.5 hours later... I was at 222. Grrr that irritated me, but I just let it go and corrected with lunch.

I fell asleep and when I checked another 3.5 hours later I was at 208. This time I was almost angry. Like what is going on!!! So this time i corrected - without eating - that way I can see if my correction factor is working. I'm going to check again in about a half hour.

Sorry I just wanted to rant.

We all have days like that. Lord knows I have enough. Hope tomorrow goes better.

Have you tried opening a new supply of Lanus? I've periodically had impotent Levemir or Novolog pens. I share your "grrrr" frustration at inexplicable highs. More fun with diabetes............

Either the Lantus isn't working properly, or your basal requirements have increased for some reason. It could be caused by hormonal changes, or it could be caused by an infection. Could you have perhaps a tooth infection that you aren'y aware of?

I notice my sugar gets higher every time I am sick. Doesn't even have to be a virus. And it could just be one of those days. You mean we all don't just have "weird" days we can blame on the aliens?

yea I'm not sure what's going on

I corrected without food around 5. When i checked again around 6:45 I didn't change I went up from 208 to 238 or something.
It's nuts!

I corrected again because I was at 209 2.5 hours after dinner. So HOPEFULLY I'll be okay soon. I can check again in about an hour.

I stuck with the one extra unit of Lantus and tomorrow I'm going to change my novolog and lantus vials.

Hopefully it's just a bad day and that tomorrow it gets better!

Melissa.........this could also be hormone-related. I know it is for me.

Having the same experience with Lantus. I take 22u's at bedtime but bgs have mostly remained too high since my doc stopped my orals(glyburide, metformin, januvia) and started me on Lantus 2 weeks ago. I will see the doc soon and hope things can improve. I also do cardio rehab exercises 3x /week(stent). The sessions help lower my bgs. However, I will probably need to exercise 7x /week if the bg's don't improve.
