High Blood Sugar's Impact On Immune System Holds Clues To Improving Islet Cell Transplants. (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/133504.php)

This I find interesting as this will bring better success to the transplant of islet cells. :D

very interesting theory, kinda counter-intuitive to the whole type 1 mantra, but if it works I'd be interested, give me some spaghetti and then give me islet cells.

i wonder what their definition of hyperglycemia is? 300, 500, xxxx ??

That I don't know and if that's a help to those people who work the mirricales then maybe there is a cure in the near future.

Thanks for putting up the article.

As I read the article, I was wondering about auto immune function in diabetic life. If our auto immune system is somewhat hyper - it attacks islet cells - is it attacking other cells? Are we generally more healthy and without illness than others without hyper auto immune systems?

Maybe to test if this is the case, I should try to suppress my hyper auto immune system. Is there a normally natural way to suppress an auto immune system? I might need to look around the natural healing websites for information regarding suppressing an auto immune system. I could try that and see if I get sick more easily :D but lower my insulin requirements.

I wouldn't want to depress auto immune that far - just far enough to have a bit more sickness but let the islets of langerhans (where insulin is produced) function without influence by the auto immune system.

I was also told about oil draw which is supposed to draw toxins from your body. Using extra virgin cold pressed sesame oil rinse in your mouth for 20 minutes before meals - supposed to draw toxins from all over your body - pancreas was also mentioned in connection to diabetes. I don't have link for the information online, but we did purchase the cold pressed sesame oil, so we are going to try that system. A benign trial, anyway.

Its always worried me that if I get a transplant that my immune system would simply kill it off again. Did it once, whats to keep it from doing it again?

The idea of suppressing the immune system is a scary one... Like I tell people, if my immune system was stong enough to kill off an organ that keeps me healthy and belongs there, Lord knows it can fight off a cold. :)

Unfortunately I don't believe it works that way, suppressing the immune system would result in you catching everything illness possible. Having a hyper active immune system doesn't mean you will catch less colds sadly. It means you are producing more of the wrong kind of antibodies which are attacking your body such as the "Killer" T-cells.

Ah, well - there is the tidbit I was overlooking - "killer" T-cells and such.

As to oil pulling, sweetlife, we first found information at:
Natural Home Remedy for Toothache: How To Relieve, Stop & Get Rid of Serious "Toothache Pain" Incl. from Abscesses. Virtually Free Dental Pain Help, Relief & Cure. Healing Teeth Naturally: Tips for Regeneration of Tooth Enamel & Healing Periodontitis (http://www.paradisenow.net/healing.html)
But, if you google using "oil pull health" as search criteria, there is much to read.
As to the **** - that is a software feature - the letters d a n g (without spaces) is recognized as a shortened uncouth language participle - which connotes a swear word which is not customarily allowed in polite web forums such as diabetesforums. However, for me it is the first name and first initial of last name, so the software shields our eyes from unpleasant words. I am Dan - that is quite acceptable.:)
