I am suffering from a particularly painful bout of Sinusitis at the moment, I have seen my GP, and he has prescribed Antibiotics, but I am having a devil of a job shaking it off - I guess this is just like any other infection, and will take longer to clear up now after my dianosis?
Also, do any of you know of anything to help relieve it while I wait? I have been taking Sudafed - but he told me to stop taking it, and just use painkillers... (which hardly seem to make any difference) .I use steam inhilation, but that only seems to bring very temporary relief.
I am desperate...help ! ¬ :(

Hi Linda,
I have terrible sinuses too. I usually put hot packs on my face and it seems to relieve the pressure a little. Sudafed doesn't work for me. The only thing that helps is Tylenol Sinus and Allergy.
I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Linda
I'm prone to sinusitis, too. Seems to be a family thing, it bothered my Dad as well. It hits me two or three times every year between around Christmas and Easter.
The antibiotics seem to be the only thing that clear it up for real, but there is a product available here in the US called ColdEase that alleviates the symptoms of severe colds. I haven't used it yet since I haven't had sinusitis yet this year, but one of my friends swears by it.
I don't know if it's available in the UK, but it might be worth checking out.

I just got sinusitis for the first time, I think. I've had a cold for over a week now and now my tooth aches and my cheek hurts too (I guess those are the symptoms) I just called the doc and hopefully they will call something in for me (I don't want to go in)
As far as the pain goes... nothing seems to get rid of it. Luckily I had some ultram from a while ago that seems to at least dull the pain. I think I'm going to try advil next, that usually helps. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I used to get sinusitis all the time. Antibiotics rarely worked very well and finally the doctor told me to make my own saline nosedrops and use it straight away when I feel it coming on, up to 3 times a day. Nightime before bed is especially good.
Now I never get sinusitis. Hope it works for you too.

Linda, I hope you're feeling better now, as it's been a while since you wrote the opening post.
I had a lot of problems with my sinus too, and also allergies which give me continual symptoms of having a cold. My GP prescribed me Nasacort - it's a nasal spray and has worked wonders. I was getting so many sleepless nights because I was so bunged up and in pain with the sinuses, but now I sleep all through the night.
Let us know how you're doing - I'm thinking of you :)
