Hello everyone, this is my first post on here and i've been a diabetic for 15 years now. The day before yesterday i started using Lantus (glargine), is there anybody else on here who uses it - this may not be the right forum section to ask this but there is no specific 'insulin' section.
I'm only just starting with this insulin which i was told should be way better than Humulin that i was on before. So if any of you have any advice to give a starter please do, it would be much appreciated:)

Hello Simstash,
... and welcome to the forums. Many of us use Lantus and there are a number of threads about it. Here is a listing of search results on "Lantus"
Lantus threads (http://diabetesforums.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=44477&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending)
I also recently switched from Humulin N to Lantus. It has taken some getting used to. But I am now getting good results.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Simstash,
I am on Lantus before bed and Humalog at meals. This change has been good for me. Before I was on Humulin NPH and Humulin Regular(2 shots/day). Now that I am on 4 shots/day, I'm feeling much better and seem to have better control. There will be some rough times ahead for you (getting doses correct) but I think it will be worthwhile. Hang in there and post often.

Hey Gettingby,
Thank you for the support. I am very glad to read people are happy being on Lantus. It does bring so much hope i will feel better. I've heard it is a lot more improved insulin compared to Humulin that i've just switched from. Thanks again, this forum seems like a nice place and i'll definitely be coming here often and i hope i'll be able to help others as well with my experience.

I am on lantus and humalog as well. This has been good for me as when I was on 2 shots/day with Novalin R/N I was way out of control. Now I take lantus in the morning and a shot of Humalog when ever I eat. This is better for me.
