View Full Version : We're moving.
Hello everyone
While Diabetesforums is growing we are also growing out of room.
I am still preparing for the move, but I have plans to move to a new server with more room over the holiday weekend. That will be Thanksgiving weekend. I am not sure on the day or time this will take place yet.
At the time of the move the forums will most likely be closed. I might be able to keep the forums open. If the forums do stay open during the move then we will only be able to read. Or we could just keep the forums open and not restrict anything, but that would result in some lost post. This process will take anywhere from 5 hours and upwards. All depends on a smooth transition.
When we reopen expect to see some changes. A new look. Adding color text, changing fonts size, quoting post and adding links will all be faster and easier.
Also, Once we are on the new server we will be without a chat room for a little while as I work on a new chat that everyone can join in. I'm thinking of you Lg.
I will keep you all posted.

That's Super, Tony, and I think we all look forward to seeing the new layout! :) It's Awesome that the Forums is getting so big, and it truly is one of the most "hopping" and happening sites for Diabetics all around the globe! :D It's great to be able to grow together, and I too, hope lg will be able to join us in future chats!! ;) :D

Heck I've chatted with Lg before, he's never had to resort to hiding under the couch. That's Ash's MO :p Lg's a big boy, he can handle himself. Can't wait to chat with you again, Lg!! :D
That's fantastic news, Tony. Seems to me like everyone would be quite willing to have the boards closed for however long it takes for you to work your magic. That way we won't lose any of our valuable posts (or our invaluable posts lol).

This is GREAT news! :) Woo Hoo! :) Maybe I'll be able to chat now too, and I don't mean for a second or two...lol :D
I think this change will be very positive and hopefully the forums will be even bigger and better than ever (if that's possible ;) )
Thanks for letting us know and for making these improvements for us, Tony. Speaking for everyone, I know that we appreciate it. :)

... moving to a better, bigger place? Yay! If it's too much work to have the 2 forums going at the same time, I wouldn't mind waiting a few days for the new and improved forum. Worth the wait!

I'm with Marie. It would certainly be worth the wait. Tony, just do what you think is best and easiest for you. We are all adaptable.

I appreciate it. Only problem is my keyboard only has the letter z on it so all I can ever say in the chat room is "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz", and every now and then, maybe "Hzzzzzzzzzz".

Sounds great, Tony. The architecture here already provides a great vehicle for posting and reading. I look forward to the changes.
BTW, I did a quick search to try to determine some history. I think I saw a few threads from 2002. When did you start DiabetesForum???

That's great news Tony! Thanks for making this an even better place for us all! :D As far as deciding whether to shut down or not, I think you should just do what is easiest for you. Moving all that stuff sounds complicated and will probably be enough work w/o making it more difficult.
I'm looking forward to the "new and improved" Forums!
