Help - found out I'm pregnant and my AIC is 6.8

My A1c pre-pregnancy was 5.8. (diet and exercise only) I don't have an appointment to get insulin until next week.

So should I be freaked? Is my baby okay?

This is my first pregnancy and I will admit I get worried.

You're fine, your baby is fine. As long as your A1c is under 7, most OBs won't care. They will tell you to keep your fasting under 95 and 2 hour post to under 120.

I can breathe a sigh of relief and talk to my regular doc on Wednesday. The endo wants me to do Glybride until I get on insulin - but I have read this is not recommended for pregnancy. so for those of you who have been through this - is it safe?

I am very happy to be pregnant, although my fiance and I had planned on waiting till after the wedding (March) but I won't turn down a blessing as good as this!
