Transplant List
My foot has finally healed!!!!!
I have been activated on the waiting list for my pancreas!
My transplant coordinator told me that the wait is short......only 3 to 6 months.
I am scared, and excited! If I am at home when I get the call to go in, I will have time to post that and let you all know. If I am out and about.....my partner will post something as soon as he can.

Liz,
That is wonderful news. I understand your feeling of being scared. Any kind of surgery is scary. But it is exciting to know that someday you will be free of diabetes.
You will be in my thoughts and prayer.
Nancy

I hope it goes well for you! Surgery can be scary but it's not so bad, they'll give you the laughing gas then put you out on the stage of one of the comedy clubs where you'll make a fool of yourself for a while (everything seems funny with the gas) but you won't remember any of it.
The recovery room can be a little rough. When you come out of it you struggle to wake up and stay awake but it takes some time. You can catch bits and pieces of things going on around you but are not fully aware of everything.

OMG Liz!!!!!
Wonderful news! x 1 000 000
I was wondering how you were doing lately and how long you'd have to wait for a transplant.
Back in Canada, I had this little card in my wallet, for organ donation. The other day, found this web site :
NHS Organ Donor Line It's easy! You just call the NHS Organ Donor Line and... voilą! Well now I'm an organ donor, wherever I am.
Looking forward to the day when you'll post in the forum how great it is to have a new pancreas.
Marie

Transplant
Thank you everyone for the support!!!! I love this site!!!
I am already taking one of the anti--rejection drugs. I thought there would be alot of bad side effects.......but, I was wrong.
I didn't feel very good for the fist three days.....but, after that,
piece of cake.
I am READY for this! I will get to feel good without these horrible lows that I have everyday. They really knock the wind out of me.
My kidneys are just starting to show signs of wear.....so this will prevent dialisis for me.
THANK YOU ALL!!!!!
