MDI for the Weekend

So I was out on a run yesterday and when I got back my pump was showing a "button error". When I called minimed, they said my pump was faulty and I needed a new one. I had to disconnect from my pump and switch to MDI. I have been on the pump for over 8 years and had never had to revert to a back up plan. I had to call the endo on call yesterday and have him call me in a prescription to lantus. BG's have been all over the place since. I should be getting my new pump in the mail via UPS tomorrow morning (I guess UPS doesn't deliver on Sundays???). I can't wait, but I'll live until then. I'm just glad I wasn't at work or out of town or something when this decided to happen. I have the weekend off from work (and the pump), so I can dedicate time to BG's. Feels really weird to not be hooked up to that thing after so many years.

I am sorry to hear your pump malfunctioned. I have been pumping for almost 8 years also. This is a good reminder to all of us to have a back up plan for those days.

Hope you get your pump early tomorrow. :(

No backup pump? Of course, I've been pumping 6 years and finally have one as I decided not to trade in my Animas in case my Cozmo ever malfunctions. Sorry to hear about the pump having a problem.

Nobody delivers on Sunday. I think a select few do, but the charges are outrageous for it and the cost would eat any profit a pump company made. Heck, even Saturday deliveries are costly for pump companies which surprises why some still do that.

My endo gives me an Rx for Novolog pens as a backup plan to pump failure. I never took Lantus prior to pumping (was on NPH & Novolog 70/30), so my endo's recommendation is to just use the Novolog until the new pump arrives.

This did happen to me a year ago. I called MiniMed on a Saturday and didn't have a new pump until Tuesday.
