On an english forum, they're discussing low carb, some very enthusiastically. And the majority are showing A1c of around 4 to 5, types I and II alike. Are they using a different method in the UK? I've read this thread:

http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/diabetes/32213-harmonizing-glycated-hemoglobin-testing.html

But here it's that the A1c numbers are higher dependig the method, AFAIUI.

I'm missing something?

And then they have a funny way of showing their improvement in weight "3st 7lbs" what is a stone? I'm asking it here because I've not signed up there, just interested in what are the main differences and approaches here an there.

Not IMHO. Lower carbs means less insulin. Less insulin means less variation. Less insulin and less variation mean less and less severe hypos. Combine that with a good understanding of your rates, patterns, and behavior, and your hypos can be very well controlled.
