Which do you find more painful: fingersticks or shots? And no, shots do not include glucagon shots of else they would win. Just insulin shots.

I think I'd have to say it's the fingersticks. First of all, I do fewer shots a day than b/s tests. Second, I generally know where not to inject so I don't hit a nerve. Third, there's more areas to inject than fingers.

:p

I'll go with sticking the finger as being most painful. Sometimes the injections hurt, sometimes not, but the finger stick almost always hurt to some degree.

To me they are the same really... always flinch when I take a shot... and then also sometimes pull my finger away just before i prick it... Though sometimes the lantus shot over rules that as it STINGS!!!

Fingersticks. I used to not check sugars just because I had to prick my fingers...Since I have been able to check using my forearms, I have been soooo much more compliant.

For me, Neither are really bad. However, when I either hit a sensitive spot (when inserting a Polyfin), or hit a sore spot on my finger, I'd say they both hurt (the same). Don't ya just love those finger pokes where the blood shoots up (or across the room)!?

Thomas says...definately finger sticks. I would have to agree. I haven't had an insulin shot but my fingertips hurt for a while after I check my sugar!!

Shots are definitely worse! :( :( I hate them. I rather do a fingerstick anyday than do an injection. I'm surprised that some find the fingersticks worse, but I guess to each his/her own. :p

Erica says the fingersticks...although lately, with her pens, she's been complaining of those, saying the needles feel dull(they are all new tips).
Thank GOD her pump arrives tomorrow, and then the ball is set in motion for her to actually be able to use it :)...so no more insulin pens...just fingersticks.(her fingers look pathetic...UGH)
