Hi Everyone! I'm Scooter and I've been lurking around here for a bit and decided it's about time to join in! I'm 35, married with a 3 1/2 year old daughter.
I'm a (supposed) Type 2, but really think I'm more Type 1.5. Long story short, had Gestational Diabetes with my daughter and ended up pre-diabetic 18 months after having her. I went on oral meds, changed my diet and was off meds after 3 months. I continued on the diet/exercise but all of the sudden (about 8 months later) something went wacky and my blood sugars skyrocketed. I ended up back on oral meds and then on insulin.
After 5 miscarriages since having my daughter, I am now 18 weeks pregnant. My blood sugars are up and down with many high-highs and even more low-lows. I am now getting a pump and it should be here Monday and training on Tuesday. I'm scared and excited at the same time!
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone! :)

Welcome Scooter. I'm sure that you will like it here. We have a very knowledgeable and fun bunch of guys and gals here (of course, it looks as though the Canadians are taking over, j/k). :D As long as you remember that Tony is :king: and Shy is the Empress of the Known Universe, you'll be ok. See, I told ya we are a fun bunch.

Hi Scooter.
Welcome!! :) This is a great site.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I have a good friend that is almost 18 weeks too. I am sorry you had to go through 5 misses. :( I have had 2 myself so kinda know what you went through, although I am not diabetic. My son, Thomas, is T1 and on a pump for almost exactly one year now. I hope you like your pump as much as he does.
Good luck! :)

Welcome, Scooter! My wife had two miscarriages a while back. Two things we learned then was that it was ok to lean on friends and a lot of people had gone through the same thing we had. You'll definitely see that in this forum. Again, hello and welcome!

Well hello there Scooter and welcome to the best place to be on the Internet! :)
Pregnant? Congrats! 18 weeks and onward is just wonderful... no more morning sickness. When are you due? Beginning of May? Your daughter must be excited to have a little brother or little sister on the way.
I hope your health care team takes good care of you!!
I've had a miscarriage before having my daughter, and after years of trying to get pregnant. But now I have 3 wonderful children. :)
Take care now,
Dewey

Hi Scooter, and congrats on your pregnancy!
Once you start on the pump, I think it will be much better on your blood sugars. I know another gal who successfully went through a (Type I) Diabetic pregnancy while on the pump. Just be sure to keep in constant contact with your endo should anything arise. I'm very sorry about your miscarriages, but we'll all keep positive thoughts for you this time for a safe pregnancy! Welcome aboard, and glad you're here!

Hi Scooter: Welcome to this Great Forum. I do hope you enjoy it
here as we do.
I'm sorry to hear of your miscarriages. I didn't experience that
but one of my best friends had 3(she is not a Diabetic). Two while
she was on the Base in Germany where her Hubbie was stationed.
We talked often and I certainly felt her grief and tried my best to console her and her Hubbie. Congratulations on the new one you and your Hubbie
have created. I'm sure the pump and the Endo and you will see this new
Baby enter this world successfully. Best Wishes!
***Carlie*** :)
P.S. I like your name. Our red-eared turtle shares it. And WOW is he fast
when we try to catch him, off he goes. LOL!
