Here is a PDF file that offers a sneak peek at the new Disetronic/Roche pump. From what I can tell, there aren't any new features that the cozmo/paradigm/IR1200 don't already have. It'll be interesting to see how the palm software works, though. Most PDA's have IR capabilities now, so it should be able to act as a remote and data sync for the pump.

That's too cool! Thanks for posting it, Booger! I LOVE the Color! :D I had heard some folks on another site talking about it, but there were no pics or links available. Thanks again!

Booger, thanks so much for posting this. My Disetronic HTron warranty expires this week and I had just started investigating the other options. Dis must have lost track of me for their newsletter when we moved this past year. I had just about decided on the Cozmo but if Dis can get all this through the FDA (their previous track record hasn't been the best) I will definitely stick with them.

I was under the impression that Disetronic didn't sell pumps in the US any more. Didn't they used to give you two pumps when you got a pump?

Funnygirl, they had to discontinue the HTron + (which is the one I use) for some reason but they didn't recall them. And yes, you got 2 pumps which made me feel lots more secure knowing if one konked out for some reason I still had a back up. Four years ago when I started on a pump there were only two choices- Minimed or Disetronic. :)

Thanks for the info Kris. The design of this pump seems to be good. I like how small it is.

Thanks for that, Booger :)

Gotta say, I thought it was going to be better than what I'm gathering from this short blurb.
First off, if it's "actual size shown" on the pic, then it's a BIG sucker. Bigger than my 512, so bigger than the Cozmo and IR1200.
Secondly, it says that the bolus calculator is on the Palm software?!?  Now that I would not go for. I used to use my Palm but nowadays the only things fitting in my teeny little purse are my meter, wallet, and cell phone. No way am I going to lug around a Palm just to do math for me - a calculator would be smaller!

Overall I'm disappointed with the exception of the looks of it. Of course that's just my opinion :)

I believe that the page given was zoomed in, so I don't think that the pump is that big. I'm not sure as to its exact specs, but when I printed out the newsletter on paper, the size of the pump was no bigger than the Animas IR-1200. If it was as big as it appeared on the site, then ! LMAO! Maybe as time goes on, we'll learn more about it, and hopefully for those interested, it will soon become available in the US. The more choices available, the better.

I'll have to print it off then, Dew. When I was looking at it earlier, I changed the PDF view to "Actual Size" and it's bigger than my 512 - but it must be different on paper :)
With a 315U reservoir, I'd be surprised if it were as small as the IR1200 ;)

I'd really like to see what this "reversible graphic display" is all about. That looks pretty neat :D

ShyYeah, you may be right Shy. I just wish they had more accurate specs on it. I e-mailed them to ask them about that and if they are still offering 2 pumps (as in the past). Hopefully, we will know more soon. I agree that if the pump needs the PDA for the bolus calculator, that's somewhat cumbersome (especially in addition to carrying a glucose meter separately). That reversible display is quite cool, though! Hope we learn more about it shortly. :)

I'm pretty sure that that reversable display shows up side down so when it's on your hip alls you do is look down and you won't have to pull the pump off to turn it around to see what's on the screen thats all. cool though

I wonder what the included meter will be like. Maybe accu-chek designed a new meter just to go with this? I can't imagine what other meter would go in it. The Compact is too big, the advantage is getting outdated, the complete is like the advantage....maybe the active?

Called Disetronic this am, the new Spirit will be a 3 part system consisting of the pump, glucometer, and palm thing. They are not connected like the Cozmo. Guess I will still try for a new Cozmo. I like the feature being able to program carb/insulin and correction factors and letting the pump do the math for me.
