Hi everyone.
Im looking for all you good peoples advise on my chest infection???
Basically I am on antibiotics as of today but I wanted to know if anyone has any hints or tips on anything I can do to help my lungs heal on top of the anibiotics. I know keeping my BS stable is of upmost importance, but Im sort of a bit more interested in 'old wives tales' if you like. Im sick of infections and anibiotics not working on me resulting in a hospital stay, so this time I really want to do whatever I can to help myself. Any suggestion?
Remember Its not a cold...just a chest infection

Hi Bonbora, can't offer anything but sympathy here. I have had a couple of those infections, but way back in my smoking days. I know how miserable they are and hope you feel better real soon. :)

Take your medication, drink lits of fluids, and most importantly rest. When I get sick that's where it settle on me too. UMMMM. Sometimes if its hard to breath, I turn just the hot water on in the bathroom shower. An instant steam room. It works for me.

Drink lots of fluids! You didn't say if you have a productive cough. If not, lie down with your head and back lower than the rest of your body and have someone cup their hands and lightly beat on your back. This loosens mucus and helps healing. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Garlic is my favorite "old wives tale" cure, not to mention my favorite spice/herb to add to food, along with peppers (cyanne, picinio, bell, etc...).
I always make a huge pot of rich chicken soup: Make an initial broth using chicken necks/backs (with skin & fat), some carrots, celery, garlic cloves, some onion, and salt & pepper to taste. After about 2 hours, discard the backs/necks, skim fat, and add skinless chicken breast, some new carrots & celery, and cook for about an hour, until the chicken breast is tender. Scoop some out into a mug, sit in a comfy chair and let that wonderful soup work it's magic. (I usually add some steamed kale or bok choi to the mug too - got to get some greens!)
Once you're grooving in a soup-induced state of bliss, go to part B of the "curative" - Dissolve 1 Airborne tablet in hot water, add a generous measure of Lamb's dark rum, drink up, and go take a nap!
Feel better...
