i've been going through this weird phase this past week; i've lost my appetite and eating food kind of turns me off. i'm sort of worried... i've lost 5 pounds in just a few days because i just can't seem to eat anything. should i go see a doctor, or should i wait another week or two? oh, and my numbers are extremely stable, i'm guessing it's because i don't eat anything and have an active basal.

thanks in advance, guys :)

I have felt the same exact way all week. Only my sugar drops so I have to force feed myself to keep it normal. I've been sick to my stomach and I also have GERD so I'm thinking it's just that acting up but it's making me not want to eat anything either. It sucks. I dunno what meds you're on sometimes they make you lose your appetite. I wouldn't let it go for too long, wouldn't hurt to run it by your doc.

Hi Pandeia,
I go too go through phases of feeling "green", but not for a prolonged period of time - like an entire week. Something is definitely not right there - would definitely get it checked at the Dr.
Also, just a thought, is there any chance that you may be pregnant?

no, no chance of being pregnant. and my hunger still hasn't returned; i force myself to eat at least one meal a day to try to get some fuel in my body. I've lost a few more pounds since i first put up this post... i'm starting to look like i did right before i was diagnosed with diabetes (grossly bone skinny). i'm gonna follow your guys' advice and go to the doctor... let's hope nothing's too seriously wrong! :(

I really hope you sorted it out! i just wanted to say ive felt nauseus since August last year. No idea why, doctors are baffled. I still have no idea what it is but over time have discovered different foods i MUST avoid. I feel nauseas constanly but well, have just learned to ignore it :(
yep, have lost ALOT of weight.. Like 10kgs since august..

I definitely feel you. If you've lost that much weight, I would advise at least talking to your doctor about it just to make sure.

I had the same problem this last week. I ate on Sunday and ended up getting nauseous and throwing up, then for the next few days every time I saw food I felt really sick. I have managed to keep down skim milk when I'm feeling that way though...that might be something to try?

I also lost my appetite. I've been feeling this way since last week. My first thought was that it could be because it's soooo cold outside. So I've lost some energy, so no energy, no appetite....

Sounds like the aliens are attacking our appetite too now:eek: I've lost mine too :( I really have to force feed myself at lunch at work, or working WILL send me into a real bad hypo because of my physical job. One of few things i can handle now is milk chocolate, so i eat some milk chocolate every now and then just for the energy and to keep my levels at a comfortable level. Not sure if i've lost weight or not though...

I really think you should go see your doctor if you can't eat real soon! Could be something going on, but mainly, you need to eat so your body gets the nutrition you need to function.

wow, i didn't know so many of us lost our appetites at the same time! weird! i went to the doctor and they couldn't figure out what was wrong... they took a few tests but nothing came up. my appetite has sort of returned, but not really. i get hungry about once a day now. i eat something small and the hunger goes away. it's really strange... plus i run a lot and my energy never feels like it's faltered because of my lack of fuel... i feel pretty healthy, it's just the whole eating thing that's throwing me off! i feel like i should feel worse than i do from eating so little! maybe there really are aliens taking over! lol  :D

oddly this happened to me for 4 or 5 days last week. I dropped to around 1000 calories a day, which was extremely weird since I'm usually around 3000 a day, but now I'm back to normal. I have no logical explanation for why, I just didn't feel like eating very much.

OMG I wish I was getting that, I always get hungry, but than maybe because I just started controlling my sugar and in the beginning you get to get hungry a lot, anyway i wish I would lose appetite sometimes lol

I just started to get my life back together and started working on my blood sugar. Just like you, I got really hungry at the beginning. I actually gained tons of weight. Then all of a sudden I started to lose my appetite. I don't feel fatigued. I eat at least 2 meals a day just to make sure that I get the food that I need, but if I didn't eat, I wouldn't even notice. I am not too concerned about the loss of appetite. I really needed to lose the few lbs that I did. It's just really weird. Maybe this is an adverse of affect of controlling my blood sugars. Who knows. I just hope its not something that I have to worry about medically. :D

I used to feel like that constantly, and i went to see my GP and they put me on Domperidone 10mg, to clear the sickness feeling that i felt constantly, its really helped. Hope you get this sorted.
