Just wondering what everyones numbers were when diagnosed. My endo thinks I have type 1.5, I'm getting blood work in April for it. I took a three hour glucose tolerance test and my fastings, even on regular lab work were always normal in the 90's. On my GTT my 1st hour was around 218, my second 274 and my third 138. I understand those are higher than normal, it just seems like when i read things on here, that peoples numbers are waaaay higher than mine. I think I'm just in the denial phase still and need some comparisons. My sugars before meals are always 80-90's. But then there will be this one food, like Life cereal, and that makes me go up to 190's. I'm just still trying to figure it all out I guess. Do any of you type 1.5's have issues with sugars fluctuating all over the place? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

BG = 447 and hovered in the 300's for the 3 days till I went and got DX.

Mild ketoacidosis and urinary ketones +4 ... A1c = 12.

But doc is presuming me type 2 ... it is I who think 1.5!

my A1c when I was diagnosed in December was 5.8. Some of it just doesn't make sense in my mind and I wonder at times if throwing me on a pill right away was necessary. I dunno, like I said I think I'm in denial still though....

Sanrda: my a1c at diagnosis was 5.7. My reading three hours after a meal (the first visit) was 156. I mentioned in the other thread: my fastings are rarely over 100 and pp's are well over 200 many nights. The OGTT I was in the 160's at one and two hours. I am presumed pre-d but am questioning that. I got my endo referral today.

I was at 600+ for a BG. An A1C was just a dream back in 1974 when I was diagnosed.

If it makes you guys feel better i was diagnosed at 52 mmol/L or 936 mg/DL back in 2003 with type 1, i usually never go to the hospital bue I had been feeling as bad as it gets in the last months and I was in a semi coma when my dad brought me in the hospital, I was so dehydrated that I gained over 20 pounds 4 days after I started to take insulin, i wasn`t even making 155 lbs and I am now around 192

I was 33 (594) when I was told to go to ER. I had no other symptoms for D. Put on insulin right away:mad:

My BG at Dx was about 573 with an A1c of about 14.something. I was rapidly approaching coma state and was severely dehydrated. I lost 40 some pounds in the 5 weeks prior to Dx. While I enjoyed the weight loss, I didnt enjoy the side effects.

The day I went to the dr, I tested at 306 on their glucometer. Earlier that week, I tested as high as 423 at home. Next week I'm getting an A1c test, so I'm curious to see those results.

i'm sorry perhaps i am the downer here....after a potentially wrong dx of gd i was 8 wks post delivery with these readings..not much overly alarming...but enough to toss things in a new direction..
6/07 Hba1c 8.2
6/07 Insulin 3.3 (Range: 2.6-24.9)
6/07 C-Peptide .9 (Range: 1.1-4.4)
6/07 GAD65 5.4 (Range: <0.2)
6/07 IA-2 Antibody <0.8 (Range: <0.8)
6/07 Insulin Antibody <0.4 (Range: <0.4)

i do believe your fastings and ogtt to be higher than mine...sorry if this depresses you! as you do not necessarily need to present with outrageous numbers and dka upon dx...all other sx's were present but understandably confusable with post partum..ie wt loss, thirst, hunger, constant trips to bathroom, headaches, fatigue..some funky eye stuff..

When I was admitted to the ER my bg was 495. I was in full DKA and had pancreatitis. My triglicerides were in the 300's and my A1C was 9.0. I had not eaten for about 3 days as I just couldn't eat anything anymore with the pancreatitis. I was slurring my words and had extreme exhaustion.

I was so dehydrated that I was on IV fluids for more than 24 hours before I went potty.
