My husband really likes Ryans, an all you can eat buffet, so we go there once a week.

I've figured out a way to go in there, eat all I want to, and come out under 140 (two hours later) every time.

What I do is that I head to the salad bar first and load up a plate with plenty of lettuce, spinach leaves, broccoli, cauliflower, and alfalfa sprouts. I put only a small hint of regular ranch dressing and sometimes a hint of bacon bits or shredded cheese. Sometimes I might add a few rings of raw onion.

I bring that back to my table, and I eat heartily everything on that salad plate. The salad is tasty, but more important, it is filling the void in my stomach.

Only after I finish that entire plate of salad can I hit the regular food bars. However, the "rule" is that as long as I eat all that is on that salad plate first, I can get anything I want from the food bars and eat as much of it as I want.

So last time we went (last night), I got me a piece of sirloin steak, a whole fried catfish, and some fresh cole slaw.

Of course, by the time I have eaten an entire plate of salad, I don't have that much room left in my stomach no matter how tasty the food on my food bar plate.

So what ended up happening was that I ate the entire whole fried catfish, but only had room for about a third of the slice of sirloin steak and only a few bites of the fresh cole slaw.

I left Ryans feeling as stuffed and as satisfied as my husband, but when I got home and took my 2 hour post-meal test, I was only at 132. That is less than a 20 point rise after a meal where I left stuffed and contented.
