I really don't think I am a diabetic. I did my own little test today where my blood sugar was at 100 and I ate a huge sandwich and mac&cheese at McAlisters and 2 hours later it was 120. I mean I don't have the best control, but my highest I think has been 178 tops. My A1c was only 5.1. However, my c Peptide was at 5.3 I believe.
BGTT, fasting was 149 (i think was a fluke)
2hours later 102
Different fasting glucose 97.
Any comments?

Normal C-peptide levels for a fasting test are generally considered to be anything between 0.5 nanograms (ng) per millileter (ml) and 3 ng/ml, although people who do not have diabetes may occasionally stray out of this range.
Your c-peptide is higher than normal which means you are producing a high amount of insulin. You may have had good numbers but please continue to test.

One reading of 120 following a meal does not mean that you do not have it. That is not a good criteria. There could be a million and one reasons that you had a good reading- and none of them are that you are misdiagnosed.
I am officially pre-d and only once in a blue moon is my fasting over 100. Yesterday I had a very high carb lunch and did not go above 120. But then other days I can have almost no carbs and be well over 200. In the pre-D phase your body is slowly losing control and you tend to bounce around. You may not have a consistent response but there will be times you are high and times you are low.
That 145 fasting is quite alarming- that is over the threshold for full blown D (though it takes more than one reading to diagnose). It does sound like you are pre-d and simply got lucky that your meal did not spike you up.

My blood sugars are in deed all over the place, but I have never been over 200.

If you are truly pre-D you won't be over 200 (I suspect that I have been misdiagnosed and am no longer pre-D). However, readings above 140 (some would argue 120) are definitely pre-D.

You recently posted this in another thread, in response to what highs you were getting that affected you personally.
Around the 170's I know that is low compared to some diabetics, but then I get high like that I get a most terrible headache, and am sick for most or all the day.
I am confused with my diagnosis so I might be a type 2... but only time with a new doctor will tell.
You also have a FG of 170. Did you follow the link I posted for you to understand what this means?
If all this is true, you are far from being able to throw off the shackles of a diagnosis. You said it yourself - see a good doctor to sort it out.

That wasn't an 8 hour fasting glucose? Just like 4 hours after eating, and under stress.
I am at schhol and unable to see a doctor at the moment... I am waiting to see if I can get a loan to pay off my debt and be able to see one, but until then I am at loss.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I'll leave it to the pre's and type 2s to say if that's a bit confusing or misleading to have one 4 hour test in your sig like that. It may make more sense to them than me.
I sympathise with your financial situation, but convincing yourself of a non-dx and not seeing a doctor sooner than later may cost you far, far more money. I wish you luck in facing this squarely and finding some way to get to a doctor in a timely fashion.

Ehh... sorry about that, I dunno what that is up there! *I have lost my mind*
Normal fasting glucose range... 90-117, depending on what was eating before and at what time.
Sorry for confusion.

High hon,
anything 100 or over fasting is out of range.
anything over 140 2 hours after eating is pretty questionable.
anything over 200 2 hours after eating is diabetes.
I don't know much about prediabetes. except it is not good to ignore at all. So should you have pre-D, don't want you to ignore it. Does your school have a clinic? who there can you call to find out what is near by that you can go to that will not cost much money? start finding out. I do not want you to ignore this or wish it away. very dangerous.
if you do not have it great, but you need to know for sure, and if you caught it early , where with lifestyle changes and such you can delay onset, yippeeeeee!!!! You are friggin lucky!
or if you are even full blown - D, well, I still think you have it early and that is good. but you have to know for sure.

I.
I have a question. Do the numbers above only apply to pre diabetic because my fasting was 1I had not ate in 10 hours but i had steak, potato, and sunny D for dinner the day before testing. she had me fast for 12 hours and my a1c was 6.9
also after eating I am lucky if my sugar isn't 275-315(and it has gone higher) I usually have to take my sugar a half hour after the start of a meal to know if i should go for a walk then again 2 hours after the start of my eating.

Are you a diagnosised D?
If not go to the doctor now!
If you are than I am confused as to why your not on meds/insilin and limited your sugar/carb intake.

I was diagnosed. But i was in the process of moving. and boy did i pick a bad time. I do not have insurance where i am. I have to pay out of pocket for my supplies so ..... I am broke. I am not on meds or insulin. I was diagnose but not tested for what type and not given more then my glucose meter. To be completely honest I think the only reason i am alive and okay is because of people helping me on here. I have to walk or run after I eat it isn't a choice, if i don't my sugar just doesn't go down, and I cant eat more then 30 carbs a meal or i have to run 2 miles for my sugar to get down to an acceptable level. If i eat 15 or less then I can walk a mile and a half. I just don't have the money to go to the doctor right now. I just had an interview to day and it looks good, comes with full insurance, so cross your fingers.

I am glad that you took the initiative to take care of yourself despite not being able to go the doctor.
I hope you get that job.... that will most defintly help you.
Good luck, and have a blessed week.

aleshamuffin: i believe you would be a type 2 if you can run and have your blood sugar go down. But what has it gone down to when youve tested after running? Usually if your type 1 i believe, without pills or insulin, your sugar wont go down so quick after you eat just because you run, thats more with type 2, where your body has a resistance to insulin, and running helps your muscles absorb the insulin your producing.
Good luck tho, and you should try to get free meters that come with 10-25 strips if you cant afford strips to test.

I am not sure you very well could be right about that. But the reason I started to run is i found some website that said regardless of type exercise would help as long as i didnt wait until my sugar was too high. Also it is not quick it is usually 2 miles and my run is kinda a jog lol....it usually takes 20minutes then i walk another mile to cool down. I dunno. It said with type one if you exercise when your sugar is 240+ it will make it worse otherwise it would make it better. Also it said something like that diabetes type 2 was got when you have done something to your body to make the insulin kinda not know what it is doing. (maybe i read it wrong i am known to do this) it also said that it was mostly overweight people.....but you dont look over weight ...I am so confused with this all. I have exercised and eaten right my whole 18 years on earth. I hate candy and (most) sugary things. I mostly eat veggies, fruit, chicken, and fish. I am not denying the fact i could be type 2 but it just doesnt make any sense for anything to really be wrong with me...I kinda hope you are right and i have type 2, it sounds much more manageable. the thing that worries me that it isnt is the symptoms that are only type one that i have...hopefully i will know soon, and get some treatment so i dont look like a crazy anorexic eating close to nothing and exercising like a mad woman.:D
