Last night, Mrs. ShottleBop and I took another couple out to dinner, to a Greek restaurant up in Encinitas. (Found it on yelp.com, by searching for "family restaurant" in the Encinitas zip code. It got very good--and well-deserved--reviews. It is family-owned, and the recipes, we were told, are traditional family recipes--not Americanized versions of Greek food.) Before dinner, BG was 91. I had a grilled sausage (Loukaniko) and some Taramosalata (a dip made from salmon roe, potato, oil, and vinegar (but I skipped the pita bread)) for appetizers; a salad with their housemade oil and vinegar dressing; and Arnaki Me Aginares Avgolemono--a dish with sauteed pieces of boneless lamb and artichokes in a lemon sauce. I had one glass of dry red wine.
The food was delicious, and two-hour PP was 91. Mrs. ShottleBop's only issue with the food was that the lamb was especially mild-tasting; it didn't have the strong flavor she associates with that meat.
