So I looked at my sugars from the meter I had in August, when I was just hypoglycemic and my numbers never went over 120!
Now they will get as high as 180... is that normally how it works? Does is progress that fast? If so I am scared to become full blown D type too!

I suspect there is a tipping point -- like a dam breaking -- where one goes from pre-D to full-blown.
Here is a related thread from jps : http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/type-2-diabetes/35533-timeline-normal-prediabetic-full.html

I see it it as positive thing... if Type 2 D is progressive that means the earlier you notice it and start taking action, the better your chances of beating it back down :) Shoring up a few cracks in a dam is much easier than trying to repair one after it bursts ;)
Does make you wonder what an OGTT might reveal during that onset period ... I know I do!
And harding, I got dx'd and hospitalized ... with type 2, but DKA, nonetheless.

Hospitalized! O.O
DKA?!

DKA?!
YUH -- Diabetic Ketoacidosis. It is life-threatening and here I was, jes' fine, going to work ... 3 days after I dx'd myself and measured my BG for the first time. I do not think my MD was thrilled ... I can tell you I was not! And my 3 little kids were frightened.

i think one of my tipping points was thanksgiving/christmas holiday stress (or is that when i challenged the old pancreas one last time??)...but i look at my progression more like a ladder...

Can massive stress cause a faster progression! O.o
Over Christmas break something horrible happened to me... could that have push my BG to go more out of control?!
That is a scary thought Fox... I most definatly don't want to get like that. I didn't know the abbr. for ketoacidosis, sorry about that.

The last time I had my fbs taken was 4 years ago.
I really wish they had been paying attention, especially this last year and a half - although I didn't have insurance for most of it, so I'm sure that's why they never tested.
All of my symptoms started in the last year and a half/almost two years:
-gained 35lbs (I needed weight though, so I never thought about this until recently - 35lbs is a lot to put on in a year).
-couldn't eat enough, never got full
-i had three "blackouts" early in the morning prior to eating. I got really nauseous, then got really dizzy, then broke into a horrible sweat and "blacked out" for 30 seconds or so each time. After each episode, I could barely walk, it was horrible. I started making sure to eat something before leaving the house.
-heat sensitivity, I get hot and don't want to be touched, I become irrational and irritable.
-I've been getting colds/sinus infections that don't go away, even with antibiotics. I am SO thankful I don't have tonsils.
-extremely dry hair and skin (I had weird rash like patches on my face)
-frequent thirst
-frequent urination
-tired all the time
-sugar cravings
-hypoglycemic episodes (shaky, disoriented, cold hands and feet, slurring speech, etc)
I've also been experiencing pins and needles in my feet and the symptoms of "frozen shoulder", however, those could be totally unrelated, seeing as I'm only prediabetic. I have another meeting with a doctor on Friday this week, and an endo appointment in June. They hypos have gotten worse over the last couple months, so has the frequent urination, etc.
Like I said, I don't have a full dx, but this all happened within the last two years.

Hey, 6 weeks ago, I did not know it either ... we are acquainted now! ;)
I have wondered ... though my stress was MORE massive in losing my Mom last summer. DH pointed to the holidays when I told him I was peeing a lot and wanted to test myself (since he had a meter). So ... I dunno?
