Hey everyone I plan on starting to work out in the next couple of months. I have type 1 diabetes. And am pumping on my Animas Ping. I want to take some kind of weight gainer, but not sure what is the best for Diabetics. I weigh about 150 lbs so I want to add some mass to turn into muscle. What do you guys or girls :) use? And what should I watch for while working out, or what should i do before or after working out so my bg doesn't get too low or too high? thanks for the help in advance~Chris

I would do a temp basal of about half starting 45-60 minutes prior to start of exercise, and test at least once halfway through, if not more often.

Cool thanks for the suggestion man, should i work out with the pump still on? anyone else?

I do temp basal at 25% for 1 hour right before I start working out. And thats lifting weights. I tend to go low later in the evening so 50 is probably safe to do :)

thanks for the suggestion man, when i looked on my animas ping it said temp basal +50% or -50% which one do i use an hour before?

thanks for the suggestion man, when i looked on my animas ping it said temp basal +50% or -50% which one do i use an hour before? i am a girl...for the record. :D I lift weights to build muscle for my addictive running :) I dont start my temp basal until about 15 minutes before i work out and set it for temp basal for 1 hour.so that gives me 15 minutes before work out 30 minute work out and 15 minutes after.

Ooops, I should have caught that from the screenname lol sorry :eek: !!! I will plan on doing the -50% before.....
