Hi,

Had a doctor visit this morning to follow up on blood tests from last week, he is very happy with my progress. Wants me to work on losing more weight (which I want too). Liver/Kidney functions all fine.

My BP was slight raised again so he wants me to monitor it daily for a month and let him have the results.

Can anyone suggest a decent (not too expensive) home BP monitor, I'm thinking of a wrist monitor as my upper arms may be too big for a "normal" size cuff.

Do you have a "LLoyds chemist" near to you - I used one of their own cheap monitors and its works great :)
I don't see the point in forking out alot of money when these cheap ones works ace for me ;)

You can buy them online too:
Lloyds Pharmacy - Lloydspharmacy Blood Pressure Monitor and Cuff (http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1008&storeId=90&productId=15556&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=18360&top=&top_category=18352&fromPage=&hotspot_prefix=ELECTRICALS)

Dave, I have great results with the OMRON - Automatic blood pressure monitor - it comes with a larger cuff too. The other name on the box was Intelli-sense. I took it with me to the doc to calibrate it and it was right on. :) It cost me about $40 u.s.

Take care of your heart, hon. We need you around a good long time :)

I went to my local Boots the Chemist in January to buy a BP monitor and they had a sale - they were all half price! Mine cost £35 (but should have been £70). It's Boots' own make. Seems fine except that if I take three readings a minute apart, each will be a bit lower than the previous one. Maybe this is normal.
