View Full Version : Zig Zag Lines
I have one eye today that has extreme zig zag lines. I remember having them when I was younger with a headache but do not have a headache now. About a month ago I had this in my left eye and today it is my right eye.
It is annoying of course but kind of scary also. Taking an aspirin seems to help it but I am wondering what is the cause?
Anyone experience this?
Thanks,

This is one of those issues that I wouldn't mess with for long. I think you should call your opthomoligist and get in to see him soon. Seeing lines as zig zags can be the sign of some retinal issues. It can also be an oncoming migrane.
I would highly suggest just going and getting it checked out.

I agree with Nancy....it may be nothing, but for your own piece of mind, get it checked out...eye problems aren't something to ignore.
Check back and let us know what (if anything) is going on.

You need to go an Ophthalmologist to confirm it's not a retina detaching. I get these flashing zig zag lines. My optho after checking it out called it a scintillating scotoma brought on by an opthomological migraine. Does not hurt, but I have had it bad enough I had to stop driving until it went away. Looking at a bright white PC screen also seems to bring it on. So I tone down the screen and use darker desktops.
Thanks, guys....
I have an appointment with my diabetes NP Tuesday and will ask her before I check with my opthalmologist. I had another important question to ask her also but since I didn't write it down I have forgotten it already....;) :o
I'll be back on here later to post about it.

I agree with the others, it sounds like a migrane symptom. Sometimes I get them without the headache. Sometimes it will occur 2-3 days b/4 the headache. Sometime I only get a few minutes warning b/4 the awful headache. It seems like the longer the zigzag lines last the worse the headache. Still I would get the opinion of an eye specialist. Being a diabetic we can have so many other complication. Your eyes are not something you want to take a chance with.
